Builder Gel & Structured Manicures
If your nails are thin, bendy, or peeling, this is the service that lets them grow. Builder gel is applied over your own nail to reinforce the weak spots and build a proper apex — an overlay for strength, not added length.

These are two different problems and they have two different answers. Builder gel makes the nail you already have stop bending and snapping. Aprés Gel-X gives you length at this appointment. Plenty of clients move between the two depending on the season.
We do not sculpt extensions out of builder gel and we do not offer acrylic. No liquid-and-powder monomer and no MMA means no chemical smell in the room — for you, for the client next to you, and for the artists who are here all day.
A set that holds up is two things working together: the structure your artist builds, and how the nails are treated in the weeks after. Cuticle oil most days, gloves for cleaning and dishes, opening things with something other than your nails, and coming back before the growth starts to lift. Do that with us and healthy, beautiful nails are the normal outcome — not a lucky one.
Why a structured manicure works
It is an overlay, not an extension
Builder gel goes over your own nail to reinforce it. It is not used here to add length — if you want length today, that is Gel-X.

The gel is built with structure across the stress point of the nail, which is why a structured manicure stops the bending and snapping that a plain gel color cannot.

If your nails flex when you press them, split at the sides, or peel in layers, this is the service that lets them grow instead of breaking at the same length every time.
No monomer, no smell
Everything on our enhancement menu is gel-based and cured under a lamp. No liquid-and-powder acrylic and no MMA in the building.

Structured gel is maintained at your fill appointments rather than stripped and rebuilt each time, so there is far less filing over the life of the set.
Wear that matches real life
Three to four weeks for a structured gel manicure, around four for hard gel, when the set is cared for between visits — and booked as a fill, not as a fresh start.

Questions we get
- What is a structured gel manicure?
- A builder gel base applied over your natural nail. It reinforces weak spots and builds an apex so the nail stops flexing. It is an overlay for strength, not added length.
- What is the difference between builder gel and hard gel?
- Both are overlays. Hard gel is a stronger gel that does not soak off, so it is filed down at removal — we point people to it when they are hard on their hands or are nail biters. Builder gel in a structured manicure is the gentler everyday option.
- How long does it last?
- A structured gel manicure typically holds three to four weeks and hard gel is usually around four. Those numbers assume a little care at home — oil daily, gloves for cleaning, and rebooking before it starts to lift.
- Will builder gel make my nails longer?
- Not on its own. It protects your natural nails so they can grow past the length they normally break at. If you want length at this appointment, book Aprés Gel-X instead.
- Is this the same as acrylic?
- No. Acrylic is mixed with a liquid monomer, which is where the salon smell comes from. We do not offer acrylic, liquid-and-powder or MMA. Builder and hard gel are cured under a professional lamp.
- My nails are damaged from another salon. Where do I start?
- Book a removal with the service you want, and tell us what happened. We will look at the nail plate first and pick the overlay your nails can actually carry right now — sometimes that means starting shorter than you would like. Nails almost always come back — it just takes a few appointments and a bit of home care while we work on it together.
- How is it removed?
- Structured builder gel is soaked off. Hard gel does not soak off and is filed down carefully instead. Either way, book a removal — picking product off is what causes the damage people blame on the product.
- I have a Gel-X set — can you fill it instead of redoing it?
- Sometimes. If the set is intact and you are keeping the shape and length, it can often be rebalanced with a builder gel fill. If there is lifting, or you want a different shape or length, it is better taken off and reapplied. Send a photo or ask at your consultation and we will tell you which to book.
- Can I still get hand-painted art on an overlay?
- Yes. Our hand-painted work is not limited to long extensions — short natural nails, a gel manicure, a structured gel manicure and hard gel all take freehand art, French and line work, chrome, 3D and gems. Book the art tier with your appointment.
